LAKE GENEVA – APRIL 1, 2016 – On Saturday, April 30, the Geneva Lakes Family YMCA will host a free event from 9-11 am to inspire kids and families to keep moving and learning all spring and summer long. Everyone from the community is invited to attend.
YMCA Healthy Kids Day® is the Y’s national initiative to improve health and well-being in children.
The Lake Geneva event will give kids and their families a morning filled with fun, active play and educational opportunities. Free activities include swimming, sports, crafts, learning stations and more. Participants can also preview YMCA summer programs like camp, tennis, swim lessons and the new climbing wall. Attendees ages 8+ who pass a swim test can also try out the Y’s new Wibit, an inflatable aqua obstacle course from 11:00-noon.
In conjunction with Healthy Kids Day, the Y will also host a community 5K run/walk and a family 2-mile relay race. There is no cost to participate in the family relay. Stollers are welcome. The registration fee for the 5K is $20/person for Y-members, and $25/person for community participants.
The 5K run/walk starts at 9am. The family relay begins at 10am. Both races will start and end at the YMCA, located at 203 S. Wells St. in Lake Geneva.
Race registration forms are available at GenevaLakesYMCA.org/HKD. Race-day registrations will be accepted. Participants wanting a race T-shirt should register by April 18.
