Preschool Assistant Teacher l Pay Grade 3

Description:

Under the general direction of the School Age Child Care & Preschool Director, and Lead Teacher, the Preschool Assistant Teacher is responsible for the implementation of all classroom activities. This includes maintaining the physical appearance of the classroom to meet the YMCA standards. Will supervise and comply with the YMCA’s policies and philosophy of education. Monday-Friday 8AM-12PM. Before and aftercare hours/pay are also available M-F. More hours available before or after 8A-Noon shifts. 

Requirements:

  • Provide quality programming and serve as a role model to staff and participants.
  • Supervise the children, the classroom, and all activities.
  • Share and discuss lesson plans with the classroom team and supervise their performance as related to the curriculum and program philosophy.
  • Make ongoing, systematic observations and evaluations of each child.
  • Conduct parent conferences and maintain positive relationships and effective communication with parents. Engages parents as volunteers.
  • Communicate with elementary school staff with professionalism and respect.
  • Adhere to all Geneva Lakes Family YMCA disciplinary policies and communicate with children consistently regarding all expectations.
  • Follow Geneva Lakes Family YMCA and the elementary school’s emergency procedures to ensure the safety of all children.
  • Communicate with the Lead Teacher or School Age Child Care and Preschool Director, regarding any emergency concerns or situations.
  • Always maintain a clean and well-organized work and program space.
  • Perform other duties as deemed necessary.
  • Always uphold and exemplify the policies and guidelines of the Geneva Lakes Family YMCA and the elementary school.
  • Ensure licensing compliance with Wisconsin DCF 252.

Qualifications:

  • Must be a high school graduate or equivalent.
  • Minimum one year of assistant teaching experience in a group setting with preschool children preferred.
  • Have a sincere interest and ability to comprehend the needs of children to develop positive outcomes.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Must complete four Praesidium Child Abuse Courses before the start date.
  • CPR certification within 60 days of hire.
  • Completion of the Abusive Head Trauma Prevention course.
  • Must pass DCF FBI Fingerprint Background check before starting.
