Custodian Sundays-Friday early AM I Pay Grade 4

Description:
As a Custodian Worker, you will perform the necessary functions and activities required to maintain a clean and pleasing appearance of the building - providing a quality experience focused on YMCA core values: caring, honesty, respect, and responsibility. Represents the YMCA and self in a professional manner of safety and fun. Responsible for the overall cleanliness of the facility as it pertains to member perception and membership and program growth and retention. A detailed daily checklist of cleaning duties will be followed.
Requirements:
- Cleaning all areas of the building within the realm of responsibility.
- Cleaning cardio and weight equipment.
- Dusting and detail cleaning.
- Vacuuming carpeted areas.
- Toilet and shower scrubbing and sanitizing.
- Informing supervisor of cleaning supply inventory and supplies needed.
- Snow removal from sidewalks, entrances, emergency exits. Salting the sidewalks, entrances and parking lot handicap spots as needed.
- Landscaping on all YMCA property.
- Interior cleaning including, but not limited to, vacuuming carpets, cleaning windows, cleaning spills, sweeping or mopping floors, removing scuff marks from walls and floors, cleaning bathrooms and locker rooms, gum removal, dusting, odor control, and trash removal.
- Operate related motorized and non-motorized equipment.
- Assist other departments and branches as needed for ongoing or special events.
- Make a note of requests from staff and members and report those to the supervisor concerning work assignment list. Record and report all needed repairs and additional cleaning needs on assignment list. Report to supervisor conditions that require an immediate response.
- Ensure YMCA building and property is secure during shift and report incidents and hazardous conditions to supervisor.
- Adhere to all safety protocols and procedures, including the use of PPE
- Perform minor fixes such as repairing broken locks, filling gaps on walls etc.
- Check control panels and electrical wiring to identify issues
- Assist with install of appliances and equipment
- Do garden/yard upkeep by mowing lawn, collecting trash etc.
- Conduct maintenance tasks such as replacing light bulbs, experience with ladders
- Inspect and troubleshoot equipment and systems (e.g. ventilation)
- Check functionality of safety systems (e.g. fire alarm)
- Collaborate with workers and other professionals during renovations
- Report to the facilities or maintenance manager for issues
- Inspect the building, grounds, and equipment.
- Handles necessary repairs and maintenance.
- Installs equipment and appliances.
- Follows local and state building codes.
- Comply with all company safety regulations.
- Keeps a maintenance log and writes shift reports.
- All other duties as assigned.
Qualifications:
- One to two years of related experience is preferred.
- Minimum age of 21 years.
- Ability to relate effectively/enthusiastically with diverse groups from all social and economic segments of the community.
PHYSICAL DEMAND
Must be able to lift at least 50 pounds and use various floor cleaning machines.
The ideal candidate will:
- Proven experience as assistant director or other similar positions
- Ability to learn HVAC, plumbing, and electrical systems
- Experience using hand and electrical tools
- Ability to read technical manuals and drawings
- Very good communication and interpersonal skills
- Physical stamina and dexterity
- Communicating effectively, and speaking multiple languages is preferred.
- Collaborate with maintenance workers, maintenance managers, and contractors.
- High school diploma or equivalent
