Description:
Under the direction and supervision of the Senior Youth & Family Director and/or the School Age Child Care and Camp Director, the School Age Child & Preschool Care Site Coordinator is responsible for the daily supervision, coordination, and implementation of the YMCA’s Y BASE and Wrap Around Care programs at Turtle Creek Elementary School, as well as YMCA School Day Out programming.
This leadership role ensures a safe, engaging, and high-quality program environment that supports children’s academic, social, and emotional development while maintaining compliance with YMCA policies, licensing requirements, and grant expectations.
Requirements:
- Plan, organize, supervise, and implement daily program operations and age‑appropriate activities at the site.
- Serve as the on‑site lead staff, providing direction, support, and supervision to program staff.
- Oversee curriculum planning and implementation aligned with program goals and 21st Century Community Learning Center (21st CCLC) standards where applicable.
- Identify program supply and equipment needs and maintain accurate inventory lists.
- Conduct ongoing observations and informal evaluations of children to support development and address individual needs.
- Communicate professionally with parents/guardians regarding behavior, health, and developmental concerns.
- Prepare and distribute parent communications and report all disciplinary actions to the Senior Youth & Family Director.
- Maintain accurate and up‑to‑date program documentation, including registrations, contracts, release forms, emergency forms, attendance records, rosters, and schedules.
- Ensure program spaces are clean, organized, and welcoming at all times.
- Uphold and model the policies, procedures, and values of the Geneva Lakes Family YMCA.
- Follow all emergency and safety procedures; promptly communicate incidents or concerns to the Director.
- Establish or maintain the Child Care Learning Center (CCLC) Advisory Board in collaboration with Turtle Creek Administration and YMCA leadership.
- Support and maintain required 21st CCLC performance goals and participation percentages for enrolled youth.
- Attend meetings and complete additional duties as assigned by the Senior Youth & Family Director.
Qualifications:
- Must be at least 21 years of age.
- Bachelor’s degree in a related field or equivalent experience required.
- Prior experience as a teacher or assistant teacher in a licensed childcare center preferred.
- Strong oral, written, auditory, and interpersonal communication skills for effective interaction with children, families, school staff, and YMCA leadership.
- Demonstrated ability to lead, organize, and supervise youth programs in a school-based setting.
- Ability to multitask, problem-solve, and respond calmly in a dynamic environment.
- Successful completion of all required background and criminal history checks.
- Completion of child abuse prevention and bloodborne pathogen training post‑hire.
- Adult & Pediatric CPR/AED/First Aid certification preferred; must be obtained upon hire if not already certified.
