Job Title: Youth Baseball/Softball Umpire
Salary: Hourly: Part-Time Grade 1
Reports to: Sports Operations Director - Pay $25/Game or $50/Game if travel

Umpires
Position Summary
Under the supervision and guidance of the Sports Operations Director or Baseball/Softball League Supervisor, the umpire’s position is to officiate the game from beginning to end, enforcing the rules of the game, making judgment calls on plays, and handling disciplinary actions.
Requirements:
Essential Functions
The Umpires will:
- Provide game rule enforcement
- Responsible for equipment
- Report injuries, cancellations, etc., to the Sports Operations Director or Baseball/Softball League Supervisor following games
- Responsible for the conduct of the total site area: games and spectators.
- Demonstrate and interpret YMCA philosophy to players, coaches, and spectators
- Meet with both coaches before each game to discuss any ground rules, problems, etc.
- Know and enforce YMCA rules of the sport
- Stop play when necessary and explain violations consistently and fairly
- Alert coaches when play is too rough or the player needs to be cooled off
- Administer First Aid and CPR when necessary, and know Emergency protocol
- Communicate problems or concerns to the Sports Operations Director or Baseball/Softball League Supervisor
- Communicate information from the Director to coaches and players
- Use positive public relations when dealing with concerns from players and coaches
- Follows YMCA policies and procedures, including those related to medical and disciplinary situations.

Qualifications
- Minimum age of 18 years old
- Specific knowledge of game rules and sports activities
- Must clear a background/criminal history check
- Desire and ability to work with children of all ages
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
- Must have excellent leadership skills and strong verbal communications skills
CPR, First Aid, AED certifications. Must complete Child Abuse Prevention Video Courses before the first day.
